Jean Murray, movie fan

Back in the mid-90s (yes, LAST century), armed with my very first personal computer that actually had a hard drive (goodbye, floppy disk hoarding!), I began to write a book of my personal memories. Oh, the ambition! So many stories in my head ready to jump onto the page (well, monitor).

What I didn’t realize then was the cardinal rule of computing: *always* back up your hard drive. One fateful day, my computer died a tragic death, and with it, my precious stories vanished into that mysterious black hole known as “data loss.” I did manage to print out a few articles, but like socks in the laundry, they disappeared somewhere between “here” and “never found again.”

Fast forward nearly 30 years, and here I am, still memoir-less. But now? We live in the magical electronic age! The cloud beckons, flash drives await, and there’s even that old-school idea of, gasp, printing stuff out! So maybe (just maybe) my procrastination isn’t a flaw but a strategic delay while waiting for technology to catch up.

Or maybe, and here’s the truth, I was just mentally mulling over the screenplay version of my life’s story — a silver screen saga starring an average Midwestern family who, by their own admission, would never make a compelling reality series. But, they do have their moments that are worthy of sharing. That’s what this blog includes.

So buckle up, grab some popcorn, and welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoy the snippets from the chronicles of a not-so-famous family that has stories to tell.
